PA Resources Council 2017 Lens On Litter Photo Contest Winners Now On Display

The winners of the PA Resources Council 2017 Lens On Litter Photo Contest are now on display on the PRC website.
The Lens on Litter Contest focuses public attention on the problems of litter – litter is a quality of life issue that needs to be addressed by all.  
Litter is unsightly and attracts rodents and insects that carry and spread disease, and farm animals, pets and wildlife can ingest poisonous matter and other harmful littered harmful items.
Student Winners
In the student category, the winners were--
-- $1,000 First Place: Micah Wood of Nanty Glo, Cambria County. Micah’s photo titled “Wow! 3 Miles into the Wood” shows litter even far into the Pennsylvania forests;
-- $500 Second Place: Josh Milteer of Bridgeville, Allegheny County. Josh’s photo titled “Lost Bottle = Lost Beauty” depicts bottles littered near railroad tracks.
-- $250 Third Place: Hannah Brady of Springfield, Delaware County. Hannah’s photo titled “Litter Just Hangs Around” shows plastic bags and other litter hanging into a stream.
Adult Winners
The winners in the adult category were--
-- $1,000 First Place: John Fried from Wayne, Delaware County.  His photo titled “A Child’s Dream of a Litter Free Tomorrow” shows litter accumulated in front of a mural of a sleeping child.
-- $500 Second Place: Kelly Facenda of Lansdowne, Delaware County.  Her photo titled “No Thanks, I’m Stuffed” depicting a storm sewer packed with littered cups and other debris.  
-- $250 Third Place: $250 to Chris Townsend of Media, Delaware County.  His photo titled “Schuylkill Flotsam” shows a waterway crammed with litter ranging from bottles and cans to basketballs and life vests.

2018 Gene Capaldi Lens On Litter Photo Contest
PRC is now accepting entries for its 2018 Gene Capaldi Lens on Litter Photo Contest.  The deadline for entries is October 31.
This year’s contest is named for Eugene C. Capaldi, a long-time volunteer with the PA Resources Council who ran the Lens on Litter Contest for 17 years.
